Randy is the bestselling author of Fail Fast, Learn Faster: Lessons in Data-Driven Leadership in an Age of Disruption, Big Data, and AI, and a regular contributor to Forbes, Harvard Business Review, and MIT Sloan Management Review. He was a former contributor to The Wall Street Journal and has been referenced and quoted on AI leadership in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Economist in 2024.
Randy was previously founder and CEO of NewVantage Partners (NVP), a Data & AI leadership advisory firm to Fortune 1000 clients, which he founded in 2001. NVP was acquired by Paris-based global consultancy Wavestone in 2021, where he served as Innovation Fellow until January 2024.
Randy had previously been a Founding Executive with 2 venture backed startup firms which were funded by Kleiner Perkins and North Bridge Venture Partners, a Senior Vice President and Business Head with Harte-Hanks, a global database marketing pioneer, and began his career in IT and strategic planning for Bank of Boston, which is now Bank of America.
Randy is a globally recognized leader and keynote speaker on the topics of Data & AI leadership, delivering business value from Data & AI investments, and organizational transformation and change. He has addressed leadership audiences on 5 continents.
Randy currently serves as a Senior Advisor to IconIQ Capital, Odgers Berndtson, DataIQ, GAI Insights, and Ataccama. He has organized and moderated the Chief Data Officer keynote panel for the MIT Chief Data Officer Symposium for the past 10 years and serves on their advisory board. Randy also serves on the editorial advisory board and is a contributor to CDO Magazine. He was formerly a board member, board chair, and president of the James Merrill House and James Merrill Foundation, which hosts an internationally acclaimed writers-in-residence program.
